Super Comp driver Furr lays claim to victory in Charlotte once more

When it comes to competing at zMAX Dragway near Charlotte, N.C., Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competitor Michelle Furr can very nearly do no wrong. Last fall, Furr dominated the Super Comp category there to win her very first national event, and she was also runner-up in Super Street to come oh-so-close to a widely and wildly coveted double victory.

The 2011 Racer’s Awards Gala kicked off in front of a huge crowd on Saturday, February 4th. Awards, hardware and earnings of over $18,000 were handed out to the top drivers and teams that participated in Richmond Dragway’s 2011 AED Performance ET Points Series.

Wideman and Powell Pocket $5K Wins

The Fall Footbrake Frenzy III paid out an impressive $51,720 in cash, plus over $5,000 in prizes from an array of sponsors. All told, racers recorded nearly 1,100 pairs down Coastal Plains Dragway in just two days, and in the process proved that it was possible to complete two big car count races in the same day.

MIR crowns Speed Unlimited Champions Goldey, Jones, Schneider and Proctor

In years past, points battles for the Speed Unlimited ET Series had been wrapped up as early as mid-September, leaving little excitement for the last few races of the year. For the last couple of years, Royce Miller has tried to put some of that excitement back into the points battles coming down the final stretch of the season. Last year, there was the Mean 15 runoff race, where the winner of a one race shootout was crowned the points champ. After some feedback from the racers, the system was modified to be more a playoff series.

September 23rd marked the end of the racing season for Old Dominion Speedway's 2011 season. The final race was cancelled due to rain so all champions were technically crowned on September 16th. These champions have won multiple championships in their careers and are no strangers to the spot light.

Perfect weather greeted a huge field of over 300 local racers for the final weekend of the Autofab Raider ET Series of 2011. With the season winding down, and points battles heating up, 520 total entries (including re-entries) on Saturday made their way down the track at Maryland Int’l Raceway.
