MIR was host to the IHRA PRO-AM this past weekend and 2007 Champion Danny Waters continues to be successful with his new ride.
April 14, 2008
Danny Waters, Jr.
and company rolled into Budds Creek Md. with alot on their plate for their first
1/4 mile event of the season. Both cars are brand new and had never graced the
1320 until the Division 1 IHRA season opener at Maryland International Raceway
and had alot of data to record and learn from. With the help of engine builder
Brett Nesbitt of Nesbitt Performance Engines, it only took a couple of runs to
get the brand new 2008 American Race Cars Quick Rod entry figured out and on the
magic 8.90 number. On the very first time trial of the Saturday event, the car
recorded a perfect 8.900 and backed it up with a near perfect 8.905 the
following run! As the day progressed, the 8.9's continued to pop up on the
boards ultimatley placing the Moser Engineering dragster into it's first final
round apperance of 2008. Waters fell to Engine builder, Nesbitt, who finished
#2 in the IHRA World points chase in 2007. In Sundays event Waters squeazed the
tree a little too hard, turning it red by only .003 of a second in the Quick Rod
entry, bowing him out of the competition. It may have been an early exit for
the 2007 Quick Rod World Champ in the dragster, but ran a little long in the
teams 1966 Chevy II L/SA car. Waters turned it red for a second time down to
the last 3 cars. All in all, it was an outstanding weekend and we have a good
head of steem rolling into the Spring Nationals this weekend at Rockingham and
hope to repeat or better these two outings.
Waters would like to thank all of the teams outstanding supporters and hope to
do so on many occasions throughout the remainder of the year:
