March 1, 2008

Richmond Dragway had an incredible turnout for the windy season opener.

Richmond Dragway had a really nice crowd on hand Saturday march 1st considering the chilly and windy day.  The racers were restless and looking for somewhere to run.  Top and Modified completed 6 rounds of racing to reach the finals.

The top winner for the day was 2007 Sumerduck Track Champion- The Virginia Troy Williams.  Troy had his hands full with the 17 yr old up and coming driver Britney Mollison (Daughter of Brian Mollison)  Fortunately for Williams, Britney went a little faster than expected.  Williams racked up his first win for the 08 season.  The pair did show good sportsmanship before the race and wish each other good luck.

Modified winner was Seth Phillips driving his trusty ole 68 Cuda.  Seth got the automatic win when runner up Robert Jones red-lighted his chances away.

Then in the Jr. Class it was Ms. Eden Lukhard (pic below)taking the win.  Unfortunately I missed the picture of the Street and strip winner which was Amanda Sillmon.  Sillmon is the niece of one of the toughest female racers in VA. "TRACY Sillmon"

Richmond Dragway will continue the 2008 season next Saturday march 8th.  Gates will open at 11:00 and eliminations start after each class has completed 2 time runs. (approx 2:00)
