March 15, 2008

Mopars ruled Richmond Dragway on Saturday March 15, 2008.

Jeffrey Jones (King George, VA) was the only thing that stood between Doris Davis (New Kent, VA) getting her second win in a row at Richmond Dragway.  Davis was set on kill but was -.0003 red.  Jones was .513 in the daytona.

Weekly bracket racer Scooter Hoover  (Powhatan, VA)didn't have his car ready for the season but showed up at the track anyway and tried his luck in the street and strip class.  Hoover collected the winning trophy at the end of the night.  I guess he is trying to stay in practice.

The junior dragster race was won by Dink Holmes (Richmond, VA)  Dink is sponsored by his father James Holmes, owner of Holmes Hauling.  Runner up was Ms. Shianne Hayes.

The other Mopar winner for the day was the 68 Cuda driven by Seth Phillips (Manquin, VA).  Runner up John Dunn (Mechanicsville, VA) had it on kill but went .499 red.  Phillips was .511 so it was apparent that neither one was taking the other lightly.    This match up was a little weird for me as I went to highschool with John Dunn and he was racing my son Seth.  Sorry John but you know who I had to pull for.

I would like to thank Johnny Davis (track owner/operator) for sharing the winners circle pictures with me.  I did not take any action pictures during the race as I made my own debut today in Seth's dragster.  If anyone ever has a good action pic from the race, please email it to me at LKing3019@aol.com

Thanks and good luck racing next week   www.richmonddragway.com  for more weekly information.
